Please be respectful of our community and think before you post.
Here are some examples (not comprehensive, but you’ll get the idea) of types of comments that might be removed:
- spam, junk, or marketing;
- personal or professional rants;
- threats to me or other visitors, I reserve the right to report such posts to the authorities.
Comments are only available to signed-in members.
When you post a comment, we store the comment text alongside your existing member account. This data is processed on the same lawful basis as your membership (your consent, under UK GDPR Article 6(1)(a)).

These Contributor Terms explain how your submission will be handled and how we protect both you and your work.
Your Story, Your Rights. You retain full copyright for any story, image, or creative work you submit. By sending your story, you grant PigPen.page a non-exclusive licence to publish, edit (for clarity, grammar, or length), and promote it across the website and associated social channels. You remain the author and can reuse your story elsewhere at any time.
Review & Agreement. All submissions are reviewed before publication. If we both agree that your story fits the purpose and values of PigPen.page, it may be published on the site. Publication is not guaranteed, and I reserve the right to decline, edit, or remove submissions that contain medical advice, personal attacks, or confidential information.
Privacy & Data Handling. Your contact details will be used only to discuss and confirm your submission. They will not be shared with anyone else. If your story is accepted, your name (or chosen pseudonym) and any approved image may appear publicly.
Medical Disclaimer. Stories on PigPen.page reflect personal experiences only. They should never replace professional medical advice. Always consult your clinician or specialist team before making changes to your care or diet.

What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work efficiently and to provide information to site owners. This policy explains exactly which cookies PigPen.page uses and why.
What cookies do we use?
PigPen.page is built on Ghost(Pro), a privacy-respecting publishing platform. Ghost does not set any non-essential cookies by default, and we do not use Ghost Analytics or any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. The only cookies set on this site are strictly necessaryfor the site to function.
1. Member authentication cookies
If you create a free account or subscribe to our newsletter, Ghost sets the following cookies to keep you signed in and to recognise your access to member-only content:

If you access the website's administration panel (staff only), Ghost sets:

This cookie is only set for authorised staff and is not set for general visitors.
3. Payment cookies (only if you make a paid subscription)
If PigPen.page offers paid subscriptions in the future, payments are processed by Stripe. When you open a checkout or payment form, Stripe sets:

These cookies are set and controlled entirely by Stripe and are required for secure payment processing. They are not set unless you actively load a payment form.
Cookies we do NOT use
For clarity, PigPen.page does not use:
- Analytics cookies (we do not use Ghost Analytics, Google Analytics, Plausible, or any other analytics service)
- Advertising or marketing cookies
- Social media tracking cookies
- Third-party tracking pixels
How to manage cookies
Because all cookies we use are strictly necessary, they cannot be switched off through our site. However, you can block or delete them through your browser settings. Note that blocking these cookies will prevent you from signing in or accessing member-only content.

What personal information we collect
We collect and process the following personal information:
- Newsletter subscribers: your name and email address, provided directly by you when you sign up to our email newsletter.
- Comments (if enabled): your name, email address, and the content of any comment you post, provided directly by you when you submit a comment.
- Member accounts (if applicable): your name, email address, and any profile information you provide when creating a free account.
We do not use analytics services, advertising trackers, or third-party tracking technologies on this site. We do not collect browsing behaviour, IP addresses for analytics purposes, or any data from social media plugins.
How we get your personal information
All personal information we hold is provided directly by you when you sign up to our newsletter, create a member account, or post a comment. We do not obtain personal information from any third parties.
Why we have it and our lawful basis
Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the lawful basis we rely on for processing your personal information is your consent (Article 6(1)(a)).
- We use your email address to send you the newsletter you have subscribed to.
- We use your name to personalise communications.
- We use comment data to display and moderate discussion on our posts.
You can withdraw your consent at any time by:
- Clicking "unsubscribe" in any newsletter email, or

Who we share your data with
We do not sell or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. Your data is processed by the following service providers, who act as data processors on our behalf:

You do not need a separate Mailgun account; email delivery is included with our Ghost(Pro) subscription and configured automatically by Ghost. These processors are bound by data processing agreements that include Standard Contractual Clauses for international data transfers, as required under UK GDPR Chapter V.
If we offer paid subscriptions in the future, payment data will be processed by Stripe (Stripe Payments Europe Ltd / Stripe, Inc.). Stripe will set its own cookies for fraud prevention — see our Cookie Policy for details.
When you contact us via our contact form, your submission is processed by Google Forms (Google LLC) on our behalf. Google may transfer your data internationally; we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses for this transfer. Google may use cookies or similar technologies (including reCAPTCHA) for spam protection. For details on how Google handles your personal information, see Google's Privacy Policy.
International data transfers
Some of our processors (Ghost, Mailgun) are based in the United States. When your personal information is transferred outside the UK, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the UK Information Commissioner to ensure your data remains protected to UK GDPR standards.
How long we keep your data
- Active subscribers: we keep your name and email for as long as you remain subscribed.
- Unsubscribers: if you unsubscribe or withdraw consent, we will delete your personal information from our active systems within 90 days.
- Comments: if you delete your account, your comments will be anonymised or deleted within 90 days.
- Backups: we delete backups older than 90 days unless required for ongoing operational needs. Residual data in recent backups will be overwritten in the ordinary course of business; we do not access or restore backups to re-expose deleted data.
Where your data is stored
Your information is stored within the Ghost(Pro) platform, which serves as our system of record. We do not maintain separate copies of subscriber data on personal devices or local systems. All subscriber information is managed exclusively within Ghost(Pro).
Your data protection rights
Under data protection law, you have the following rights:
- Right of access — to ask for copies of your personal information.
- Right to rectification — to ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete information.
- Right to erasure — to ask us to delete your personal information in certain circumstances.
- Right to restriction of processing — to ask us to limit how we process your information in certain circumstances.
- Right to object to processing — to object to processing in certain circumstances.
- Right to data portability — to ask us to transfer your information to another organisation or to you, in certain circumstances.
- Right to withdraw consent — where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time.

Automated decision-making and profiling
We do not use any automated decision-making or profiling with your personal information.
Children's information
Our website is not intended for children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have collected information from a child, please contact us so we can delete it.
